India Post “Item Booked” — Meaning

Your parcel was accepted at the counter and the 13-digit consignment number was generated.

What “Item Booked” means

“Item Booked” is the very first scan in an India Post shipment's journey. It means the post office has accepted your article, weighed it, charged postage, and generated the 13-character consignment number (e.g. EE123456789IN) you use to track it. At this stage the item is physically at the booking post office and has not yet started moving.

What happens next

Item Received / Item Bagged at the booking office as it is sorted for dispatch.

Tip: Keep the booking receipt safe — the consignment number on it is the only way to track the parcel.
